Acts 24:3
Accept And Receive Are Two Relative
Verbs And Their Usage In God's Word Is Blunt And Interesting That Makes Our
Study Most Profitable. Webster Defines Accept As "Receive Willingly"
While He Gives Meaning To The Word Receive As "To Accept As
Authoritative". Even Webster Puts The Right Fit He Can Take Credit For.
.
THE WORD "ACCEPT" IN
HEBREW
A. "LAW-KAKH"- Bring,
Fetch, Seize Or Use. EX 22:11
B. "RAW-TSAW"-to Satisfy
A Debt, Consent With, Pardon And Reconcile Self. EZEK 43:27
C. "NAW-SAW"-to Furnish,
Ease, Forgive And Pardon. JOB 42:8
.
THE WORD "RECEIVE" IN
GREEK
A. "LAMBANO"-Bring, Get
Hold Of, Catch And Obtain. JN 5:34, 1 COR 14:5
B. "DEKH-OM-AHEE"-Accept,
Receive And Take. LK 8:13, MT 11:14
C. "KHO-REH-O"-To Pass,
Enter, Come And Contain. MT 19:11, MK 2:2
.
Careful Reading Of God's Word Will
Show That "Accept" Is Used More Often In The Old Testament, Which
Suggest That Man Must Do Something That Best Accomplish For The Lord And Get
His Pleasure. "Receive," On The Other Hand, Fills The New Testament
More Through The Gospel Writers Using Ancient Greek In Their Letters,
Suggesting Man's Impulse Or A Powerful Urge To Approve Or Desire For Something.
With All This, Let Us Not Be Burdened By In Our Study Of God's Holy Word Since
Our Smallest Deed For God Is Greatest Than Our Opinion On His Words. Also, We
Are Most Guided When We Pray And Ask For The Strength Of The Holy Spirit. Amen.
